Worth it for the savings

As a new business, I was really looking for value. I found TouchBistro through a referral program offer that saved me a good chunk on the setup fees for the iPad POS System. The main reason I picked them was the free trial offer. It let me test out the core features without a huge upfront commitment. I also got a small discount on a hardware bundle which included a Cash Drawer and a Receipt Printer. Overall, it felt like I got a really good deal for what I paid, and the system does everything I need it to. Definitely worth the purchase for the features and the initial savings.

Solid POS, pricing can add up

We recently switched to TouchBistro for our restaurant, mainly for their Restaurant Management Software and Payment Processing. The core POS system is very robust and user-friendly, much better than our old setup. Staff picked it up quickly. Delivery of the hardware, including the Mobile Payment Terminals, was on time, about 4 business days. My only real complaint is that while the base system is competitive, the add-ons like Inventory Management and Staff Scheduling really start to push the monthly cost up. It's effective, but you need to budget for all the features you actually want.

Easy to use POS

Got the iPad POS System. Setup was quick. Staff learned it fast. Online ordering works fine. Payments process without issues. Happy with the switch.

Good system, setup took time

I signed up for TouchBistro last month, specifically for their iPad POS System and the Online Ordering. The sales process was pretty smooth; I booked a demo and they walked me through everything. I liked that they focused on restaurants. Getting the whole system set up, especially integrating the online ordering with our existing website, took a bit longer than I expected. The support team was helpful, though, responding to my emails within a few hours. The iPad itself is responsive and the interface is intuitive for my staff, which was a big plus. We also got a Receipt Printer which works well. It's definitely improved our order flow, but the initial setup was a project.

I saw something about referral codes for TouchBistro. How do those work? Is it like a promo code you enter at checkout or what?

M Mark Ito 2 months ago
Nah, it's not like a typical promo code. From what I remember, you usually get the discount applied during the sales call or when they're putting together your quote if you mention the referral.

Yeah, you usually need to talk to a rep and tell them you have a referral. They don't have a spot to just punch in a code on their website when you're signing up, afaik.

Does TouchBistro do any big sales around holidays, like Black Friday or New Year's? Looking to get a new system setup soon but can hold off if there's a good deal coming.

J Jared Kim 2 months ago
They do sometimes have offers around those times, especially for new customers. I'd keep an eye out or ask a sales rep directly what they have going on.

I got a pretty good new customer deal around Small Business Saturday last year, so yeah, they definitely run promotions during those peaks.

Can I use my existing iPads with TouchBistro, or do I need to buy their specific hardware? Trying to keep costs down.

G Gwen Okafor 2 months ago
Yep, you can totally use your own iPads! As long as they're a compatible model, which most recent ones are. Saves a good chunk of cash.

We use our own older iPads, works fine. Just make sure they're updated. They'll tell you which iOS versions work if you ask them.

Thinking about TouchBistro for our new cafe. Anyone know if they do any kind of free trial or like, a demo of the whole system before you commit? Don't wanna get locked in without seeing it work.

S Steve B. 1 month ago
Yeah, they definitely have a free trial. I think it's 30 days? You can mess around with it for a bit.

They also do demos! Just hit up their site, you can schedule one. That's how we got to see the kitchen display and online ordering bits before signing up.

Hey, anyone compared TouchBistro vs Square for Restaurants? We're a small bar, mainly just drinks and some snacks. Wondering if TouchBistro is overkill or if it's actually worth the extra bells and whistles.

A Andre Lindqvist 2 months ago
For a small bar, Square might be enough. But if you're thinking about adding food, inventory management, or reservations later, TB is probably more robust. Square's POS is pretty basic for restaurants beyond just transactions.

I used Square before TB and honestly, the inventory and table management on TouchBistro are way better if you have even a slightly complex menu. Square felt like it was always a workaround for restaurant stuff.
